beauty, skincare

one of the last makeup trends of 2015 was strobing [n; 1. to highlight the face w.light & only light.] you’ve seen the pins..flawlessly, yet subtle, illuminated skin that screams of good health. this trend is surely one to follow into the new year. well what about achieving the same look on actually healthy skin?

2016, for me, is all about my skin.

living on the coastline has put my skin through the ringer; thickly humid summers + bone-chilling cold can see where i’m going w.this. but no more! one of my first investments for this year was my beautiful mia2 clarisonic. i’ve only used it for a week & i can already tell you that i will never be without her. read some reviews for yourself!

now back to strobing: mac & becca cosmetics pair perfectly for that lit-from-within glow the clarisonic naturally gives your face. i am currently obsessed w.mac’s strobe cream which can be added atop your foundation or straight to it before application. *pro tip: ordering two sample size bottles of this product is cheaper + gives you more than buying one full size.* adding a dusting of jaclyn hills’ becca highlighter in champagne pop finishes the strobing effect.

so if you’ve been like i have, pining for impeccably perfect & glowy skin, start from the skin itself! + don’t forget to eat your veggies; happy 2016!

sweater (old): anthropologie, jeans: h&m, heels: christian siriano, clutch & hat: marshalls

one of my all time favourite ways to add interest to an outfit is by adding texture. this jumper from anthropologie has such a fun flair to it. i thrifted it for $14 this past weekend in new orleans; as soon as i saw it i knew it was coming home with me! the tassels on the top used to be loops but i cut them open to add a fringe instead. in my opinion it helped to bring out the texture it was going for! paired with simple black skinny jeans, amazing suede fringe pumps [on sale now!], a fur pom-pom hat, & a beaded clutch perfect for the upcoming season. this look is cosy, minimal, + yet still has an eye-catching element to it. happy holidays!

dress: marshall’s, boots: (similar) dsw, bag: ralph lauren, scarf: (similar) old navy, specs: warby parker

marshall’s did it again with this oversized wool sweater dress. it’s the perfect mixture of comfy + cosy which is great for these crisper mornings we’ve been having around here (if only it would last all day!) i doubled the print with a scarf i picked up on super sale last year from old navy. i love the oversized buffalo print in contrast to the windowpane plaid of the dress. adding a sleek bag, slouchy brown boots (to mix it up), & smart specs pulls this outfit together. add black tights when fall really comes out to stay!

scarf (old): (similar) zara, sweater: f21, shorts: target, heels: steve madden, clutch (old): target, lippie: nars’ cruella

i basically planned this entire outfit around these amazing lace shorts i picked up @ target yesterday. i mean, are they not everything? i paired it with this burnt pumpkin hued sweater i nabbed the other weekend; it’s just so perfect for this time of year! simple strappy heels, a python tassel clutch, + matching black readers tie in the shorts but the blanket scarf adds another element of fall cosiness. here i lazily draped it over one shoulder again but instead of knotting it at the front like last time i left one end [untied] hanging down the back.

hat: forever21, scarf (old): (similar) zara, jeans: hollister, kicks: shoedazzle, bag (old): marshalls, tank: forever21

first + foremost i clearly don’t follow the ‘no white after labor day’ rule..what fun is that? also, there is such a thing as ‘winter whites’ so i don’t feel bad. this look shows how you can wear a blanket scarf while the temps still fluctuate in the 70s-80s. this gorgeous zara scarf was a must-purchase item from last F/W. there are a few similar ones on their website [one of which i linked above]. this morning i lazily draped it over one shoulder like a cardigan but kept the other arm free so it wouldn’t overwhelm me. it’s perfect for those cool mornings that turn into hotter afternoons where you can easily slip it off if you get too warm. i slapped on a berry lipstick + topped it off with a camel fedora. bring on fall!

fashion, shopping

who else can’t wait for fall fashion? while the mornings are cooling off here the afternoon heat continues to reach the nineties. i must still succumb to pinning fall looks + dreaming of pulling out pea coats until the weather decides to cooperate.

a few things i’m lusting after for the upcoming season:

chloe faye bag – to keep up with the late summer heat while still looking good.

camel coat – i need to add more camel to my closet; it’s timeless & classic while looking luxe.

dior so real sunnies – they’re everywhere on insta lately + with good reason. so kewl.

viktor & rolf, spicebomb – this is my go-to scent for this half of the year; musky yet sweet.

black ripped skinnies – impossible to think that i’ve never owned a pair!

white wool sweater – i just picked up this h&m sweater over the weekend + it was love at first sight.

chanel lip balm – because, duh. winter lives off dry lips..might as well use a pretty product!
